  Accidental Dragon Spell

Sebby is a talentless warlock. He’s so bad at magic that his coven has decided to use him in a ritual. Sebby has no interest in dying for the greater good, so he does something a little rash. Like cast a temporary servant spell onto a dragon who can fly him the hell out of there. Except he didn’t cast a servant spell. He spelled the dragon to mate with him. Oops.

Gold is furious. He might even kill the little idiot for daring to shackle him. Sebby has much to make up for. Just because he’s good in bed, and has a nice body, and a cute face, doesn’t mean Gold will go easy on him.

For better or worse, they’re stuck with each other. When the option comes up to remove the mating, Gold needs to decide whether he will sever something he’s come to enjoy, or forgive Sebby once and for all before it’s too late.

  Chapter One

Sebby just needed one. Just one, anyone would be good.

He watched the sky, keeping his circle ready for when he had to make his catch.

Tim had escaped, right out from under Sebby’s nose. The dragons could be coming, hopefully soon.

Before the rest of the Warlocks came to dish out his punishment.

Fuck, his hands were sweaty. Where the hell were they? It had been almost three days. Or was it four? Sebby was starting to lose track of the time and the excuses he was making to keep the others off his back.

There was only so much he could do to keep them off his back because he’d heard the grumblings. He knew what they were planning for him.

Useless Warlocks tended to get ground up into powders and potions. Letting Tim run away from them, and taking one of the omegas with him, had been a pretty useless move.

He checked his watch and looked up at the sky again. Sebby wasn’t even supposed to be out here. He was still technically on the property, but after the wards had been set up when Tim escaped with that omega, there was no way Sebby could make a decent run for it and hope to escape.

He was shit for running, and the wards would let the coven know immediately that he’d bailed.

They’d catch him. They’d lock him up, and he’d lose his chance.

He needed someone to protect him. He needed a bodyguard.

A dragon would make a perfect bodyguard. If only he could catch one.

Sebby’s phone rang He ignored it. He knew who it was. The High Wizard was finally calling him in. He’d ask to talk, say he wanted to go over Sebby’s performance.

No fucking way. Sebby had seen what happened to other witches and warlocks who fucked up as badly as he had.

Bags over their head, screams for mercy that were ignored, and then thrown into an actual metal pot over a fire and left to cook until dead.

Sometimes they were bled out beforehand, and the blood boiled separately. Even that was unpleasant as fuck.

The sweat trickling down his back and forehead worsened.

He couldn’t do this. This was too damned much. The dragons weren’t coming to fight back. He’d miscalculated. Of course he had. He always did. He could barely get his spells right, let alone plan out a dragon revenge ploy.

They weren’t coming, and Sebby’s phone was still ringing.

He was completely and totally screwed. What was he going to do?

Jesus Christ, he was only twenty-three. He was too damned young to die.

Sebby turned off his phone. He looked into the distance. If he ran, how far would he get? His cloaking spells were next to useless, and it would be a simple matter for the High Wizard to track him down.

The tattoo that had been branded to the back of his neck would make sure of that.

There was still a chance. It was better than nothing.

A heavy shadow passed above, blocking out the moonlight for less than a second before it was gone.

Sebby’s heart stopped. He didn’t dare to hope. Should he look up? Should he check?

Another shadow passed silently above, and this time he did look up. Sebby turned his eyes to the sky, and his mouth dropped as he spotted a few more dragon-sized, and shaped, shadows block out the moonlight.

He couldn’t believe it. Sebby could barely take in a breath. That was more dragons than he’d expected to see. He only needed one.

Shit. He’d been right about the direction they would be coming from, but Sebby had completely miscalculated how many there would be.

What if he called one of them down here and they all came? He could only cast this spell on one. Too many coming down here at once…

And he wouldn’t have the chance to do what needed to be done.

Sebby lit some candles quickly. He had no idea how many dragons were coming. A couple more shadows passed overhead, and he knew they were planning a fight.

Tim had definitely made it to that dragon clan. He might have lied to them or told the truth. Either way, they were here to fight.

  They’d fight him, too.

Unless he could get one of them down here alone.

That meant a little more guesswork and calculating and luck on his part.

He’d never been very good at any of those three, so he could only hope.

Sebby waited for two more dragons to pass by, and then, by his count, that was usually more than what was need
ed for a dragon clan to bring to a fight. They had their warrior dragons and then their casual dragons, the family types. This clan either had a lot of warriors or they’d brought more males in from the family dragons.

Sebby was probably going to get some poor bastard who had been drafted for this battle, who had a family back home and wasn’t all that powerful, but it was no matter.

So long as he got someone who was capable of defending him and flying him out of here, he didn’t care.

He put the salt rock spices in his bowl, setting it over the small fire he’d made in the middle of his circle.

Sebby grabbed the flowers he’d prepared. They were incredibly rare and needed to be stolen from the High Wizard’s personal dried collection.

A wild blue heart tulip. It had been flattened within the pages of an old book, but the petals were in good condition, and they were all he needed.

He set them into the bowl, as well, fanning the smoke that wafted up with the dove’s feathers.

Just one dragon needed to smell this and come down to his circle. Please, let there be one more up there who was trailing behind. Sebby knew enough about war and battles to be aware that there was always at least one guarding the rear.

This had to be it. This had to be that one.

And he was right. There was one more. The creature flew overhead, and Sebby could do nothing but pray that the creature would catch the scent and come down to investigate.

  Turn around. Please, turn around.

  He waited, breath bated.

Sebby’s prayers were answered. The dragon turned around and came down for a soft landing, right in the center of the circle Sebby had made for it.

The salt of the circle immediately began to glow a bright red around the dragon.

The dragon sniffed at the bowl, golden eyes curious and a little high off the fumes from the smoke when it suddenly turned the attention of those eyes to Sebby.

The dragon looked right at him. It sniffed at him and then made a soft noise Sebby couldn’t place.

Only then did Sebby realize he was standing in the circle with the creature.

He’d forgotten to leave it when the dragon landed.

  Shit. Shit, shit, shit.

He was in the circle with this dragon, a creature so big and powerful it could bite Sebby’s head off with one easy chomp.

He swallowed hard, worked to keep from pissing himself, and then brought the blade up to slice his palm.

He didn’t go deep. He was too much of a pussy for that, but he needed just a little bit of blood to splash onto the ground, into the dirt at his and the dragon’s feet. Just enough to finish the spell.

“What was once one is now two. You are bound to me as I am bound to you.”

The dragon’s golden eyes flew wide at that.

The wild blue heart tulip petals did the rest that his blood could not. Blue chains and shackles rose out of the smoke that had brought the dragon down to Sebby in the first place. They latched around the creature’s wings, its neck, and then around its front and hind legs tightly before vanishing.

The other ends of those chains latched around Sebby’s neck, around his ankles and wrists. He felt the pinch of them before they, too, vanished in a puff of smoke. Then there was nothing. The circle had glowed fiercely at one point, and now there was nothing.

The chains were gone, and so was the glow. It was just the two of them now, and Sebby was stuck standing there, wondering if the spell had even worked at all.

If he was about to become lunch for this thing.

But it had to work. He’d seen the chains.

He swallowed and stepped back. “I…you’re going to protect me,” he commanded. He thought he commanded it. In truth, it came out sounding a little more like a question.

“You’re going to get me out of here.”

Instead of obeying like he’d hoped, the dragon shifted.

It turned into a man. Sebby had no way of knowing whether or not it had been a male or female dragon in that form, but now he could see it for himself.

A man, a well-built man with powerful muscles. Head shaved, dark skin, and a silver dragon scale tattoo beneath his right eye.

He was still in his clothes. That was a shock until Sebby remembered dragons didn’t lose their clothes when they shifted the same way wolves, foxes, and the various other animal shifters did.

He also looked incredibly pissed off. “What the fuck did you just to do me?”

Sebby backed off as the dragon shifter stepped forward. “I…I cast a spell on you. I’ll remove it after you get me out of here.”

Total lie, but he didn’t want to risk it. This guy wouldn’t believe him if he said it would vanish on its own.

The man stepped forward. Sebby didn’t like the sight of those clenched fists. He stepped back.

“You cast a spell on me?” the man asked, still sounding less than impressed. “Are you fucking crazy? Take it off!”

Sebby backed up again as the dragon approached him. He backed into a large tree. He jumped, glanced back, and when he looked back at the dragon shifter, it was just as the man reached out and grabbed him by the throat.

“Take this fucking thing off me!”

This wasn’t right. The spell was supposed to keep the dragon from hurting him. Sebby had done something wrong. He knew it. There was no way this would be happening if he’d performed the spell right.

Had he fumbled his words? Maybe he’d gotten the wrong flower by mistake?

“You…you’re supposed to do as I say.”

That was the wrong thing to say, apparently.

Those golden eyes turned such a shade of red that Sebby actually felt in fear of his life.

“You cast a spell on me to make me your slave?”

Well, when he put it that way, it sounded really bad. “Uh, no?”

The dragon glowered at him, a sneer unlike anything Sebby had ever seen directed his way before, even from the High Wizard, before the man lifted him off his feet and threw him across what remained of his circle.

“You little motherfucker! Take this off me!”

  Sebby crawled backward. “I…I can’t! I don’t know how!”

The dragon kept right on coming. The fire in his eyes was demonic. Sebby had never seen anything like it in his entire life, and when the shifter reached down and grabbed him by the throat, pulling him up and clean off his feet, it was an honest struggle to not piss his pants.

“I said to take this shit off me right now! I am not your slave, you piece of shit!”

He was mad. He was seriously mad, and Sebby couldn’t believe he’d actually thought he’d be able to get away with this. That he’d be able to pull off a complicated spell like this.

At this point, he wanted to take the spell off the shifter just so he wouldn’t have to worry about his physical safety.

Except there was no taking it off. Not until the task was complete.

“It…it goes off on its own!”

“How?” The dragon shook him. “Tell me how!”

“I…” Sebby could hardly get the words out. Even standing in front of the High Wizard had never terrified him so much. “You have to take me out of here. You have to take me with you when you go home.”

Those red eyes blazed. The shifter lifted his fist, as though he was about to punch Sebby right in his delicate face.

Sebby lifted his hands. “Ah no! Please don’t!”

He waited for the strike to come.

  It never did.

  Chapter Two

Gold could imagine his fist slamming into the face of this little shithead. He could already feel the blood against his skin, the crack of bone beneath his knuckles.

And yet, he couldn’t make his fist fly into that damned freckled face.

Not when the guy had his face half turned away, eyes tightly shut, as though waiting for the punishment to come to him.

Little coward. Miserable little coward for doing this to him.

  Gold
threw the man down onto the ground. He realized they were still in the circle, and it bothered him more than anything.

Even more than the fact that his instincts shouted at him to not hurt the man. To actually protect him.

  Fuck.

“Tell me exactly what you did, or I will break every single one of your fingers one by one.”

The worst part about the threat, other than his immediate regret for making it, was that Gold didn’t think he could carry it out.

This was a warlock. A fucking warlock of all things. A puny warlock, and those damned glasses seemed like a Harry Potter joke, but he still a warlock, and one that had cast a spell to enslave Gold.

He shouldn’t care whether or not he hurt the man. He should only care that the spell was removed.

“I…I made the circle with the salt. I used herbs and spices to put a scent in the air that would attract one of your kind. You came. So I put my blood into the Earth to seal you to me.”

“Uh-huh, and did the spell work?”

He was pretty sure it had, what with the way he was looking at the other man right about now. But there was something different. Something was off.

Gold didn’t just want to protect the man. He wanted to see what he looked like with that black robe off his body. He wanted to see if he was really as scrawny as he looked, or if there was a hint of muscle hidden beneath there.

Were there freckles all over his body, on his shoulders and chest? Or was it just confined to his face?

Gold’s cock warmed and lifted at the thought.

Oh no. He wanted to fuck the man. He wanted to push him down and make a claim. A very specific, very primal sort of claim.

“I think so, I mean, I don’t think you’re supposed to want to hurt me.”

Gold narrowed his eyes at the man. “I’m supposed to do as you say.”
